One holiday simply won't be enough to see all that the Nation has to offer.
For many visitors The Monarchy is the first attraction.
Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle are at the top of most visitors “bucket list”. But the history of the Monarchy weaves it's way throughout the land. All Stately Homes have Royal connections, and so do many of the lesser known Manor Houses.
Prehistoric Sites. One of The Wonders of the World, the UNESCO World Heritage site Stonehenge, the most famous of all.
Stonehenge in Wiltshire is surrounded by a wealth of prehistoric sites, including Long Barrows and Ancient Burial Sites. Avebury, the lesser known 3 Circles of Stones is nearby, as is The Ridgeway, an ancient track, is probably the oldest in England. White horses and hill figures can be seen carved into the chalk downlands in southern England, some of these dating back to the Celts who first came to Britain in 500BC.
Historic Buildings. The 4 countries making up the UK, England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, are awash with magnificent buildings from all periods.
From Westminster in London to Castles, Fortresses, Churches, Monasteries, Stately Mansions, Manor Houses, Town Houses, Village Cottages and Hovels.
The variety is endless. Whattle and Daub for the examples of earlier dwellings. Later many were built from local stone or brick, but even these building materials differ according to the local stone and clay available. A real patchwork of history is depicted throughout the cities, towns, villages and countryside.
The Coastline, we are after all an Island Nation, with soaring cliffs, small rocky coves and headlands, sand dunes, sandy beaches and tranquil estuaries. Snow topped mountains with spring valleys, to craggy moors and rolling plains, nestling with market towns and villages..... We have it all.
